UMEDO (Unité médico-légale de documentation de violences*) is a service that offers adult victims of physical and sexual violence, who do not wish to file a complaint, an opportunity to have their injuries medically documented and to collect biological samples that can be used in any future legal procedure.

The evidence is kept at the UMEDO for up to ten years at the victim’s request and can be retrieved at any time for legal proceedings.

The forensic doctors, both male and female, who are part of the UMEDO team have specialist training and are bound by professional confidentiality.

The service is free of charge.
