Internet browsers keep track of the web pages you have visited and the searches you have made.

If you do not want anyone to know that you have visited this website, you can erase your browsing history.

Clear browsing history

Google Chrome

To clear browsing data in Google Chrome:

  • Go to the main menu and click “History”.
  • In the submenu, click “History”.
  • Select the browsing history items that you would like to delete. Then click “Clear browsing data”.
  • If you click on “Clear browsing data” without selecting any browsing data items to be deleted, you will be given the option to select the period of history to be deleted instead.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

View browsing history and delete specific sites:

You can choose to delete specific sites from your browsing history. 

To do this:

  • Select the “Favourites” button.
  • Then click on the “History” tab. You can filter your history by selecting the filter menu. To delete specific sites, right-click on the site and click “Delete”.

Delete browsing data by type

  • In Internet Explorer, select the “Tools” button, and then “Security”. Select “Delete browsing history”. 
  • Choose the types of data or files you want to delete from your computer and select “Delete”.

Mozilla Firefox

  • Click on the menu button to open the menu.
  • Click on “History” and select “Clear Recent History”.
  • A dialog box will open, and you can choose what you want to delete from the history:
    Period: Click on the drop-down list (next to “Time range to clear”) to choose the period for which you’d like to delete your history (last hour, last two hours, last four hours, today or all).
    Data: Choose the data you’d like to delete by ticking the data items to be deleted. Be sure to check only items you do not wish to keep. The different items are described in detail in the section “Items included in history”.
  • Confirm by clicking “OK”.

Apple Safari

  • In the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on “History” and then “Show all history”.
  • You can delete items from your history by opening the tabs and then right-clicking to delete them.
  • If you wish to delete the entire history, click “Clear History” and then choose the period to be deleted.
  • Confirm your choice by clicking on “Clear History”.

DEACTIVATE AUTOFILL

Google Chrome

  • In the main menu, click “History”.
  • In the sub-menu, click “History”.
  • In the new window, click “Delete browsing data”.
  • You can now select and delete passwords and other login data, as well as automatic entry data.
  • Check the items you wish to delete and confirm by clicking “Delete data”.

Microsoft Internet Explorer

To delete the autofill history on your computer:

  • Go to the “Tools” menu and select “Internet Options”.
  • Under the “Content” tab, click on “Autofill”, then “Settings” and then “Delete autofill history”.
  • You can then select the data to be deleted.

Mozilla Firefox

Disable autofill and prevent Firefox from saving personal data entered into online forms.

If you don’t want Firefox to remember the data you’ve entered into forms, you can disable the autofill option.

  • Go to the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on Firefox and select “Preferences.”
  • Select “Privacy & Security”.
  • In the drop-down menu, choose “Use custom settings for history”.
  • Uncheck the box next to “Remember search and form history”.
  • Close the “Preferences” page. Any changes you have made will be automatically saved.
  • Disabling form history also prevents Firefox from storing your search history in the search bar.

Apple Safari

  • In the menu bar at the top of the screen, click on “Safari” and then “Preferences”.
  • In the window that opens, click on “Autofill”.
  • In the “Other forms” line, click on “Edit”.
