The different forms of violence

The different forms of violence

Here you find help! Violence.lu provides information on the support network for victims, perpetrators and witnesses of violence in Luxembourg.
I am a victim, I am a perpetrator, I have witnessed violence

There are different forms of violence:

Physical violence

someone hits you; someone causes physical injuries
to your body.

Verbal violence

someone insults you, threatens you, or speaks to you
harshly.

Sexual violence

someone touches you or forces you to have sex when
you don’t want to.

Economic and social violence

someone controls your money or your life
and doesn’t let you take your own decisions.

Any victim of violence can receive help in Luxembourg.

“Violence is a serious violation of fundamental rights and it comes in many forms. It can be domestic, physical, psychological and/or sexual in nature. It can also involve individual and collective violent behaviour, such as gender-based violence and forced marriage, abortion or sterilisation, as well as female genital mutilation and human trafficking.”
